Work Nights? Try These Tips For Sleeping During The Day

The long and arduous night shift is more difficult when you can’t get a good rest during the day. For those of you who help keep our world running after dark, we thank you. Now, helping you sleep during the day is the least we can do. Start by ordering blockout curtains online (or a free sample if you’re hesitant) because these will help you more than you know. Then, apply these other sleep tips, and you’ll be snoozin’ like a baby before you know it.

Create A Routine

The body performs best when it is on a strict routine. Set yourself a bedtime, and wake again at the same time each day. Most people need between seven and nine hours of sleep to function at 100 percent, so build your routine around that. Give yourself an hour before you’d like to be asleep to relax. Your body will anticipate your schedule and recognize that it’s time for bed, giving you a better sleep during the day.

Fake Night

Your body has a sleep cycle that produces certain hormones after the sun goes down that help you fall asleep. When you work through the night and sleep during the day, your body does not immediately produce the hormones for sleep when you’re ready to rest. Therefore, you have to do your best to create a night-like setting in your bedroom to encourage your body to create the necessary sleep hormones. This is where the blockout curtains come into play. They can remove all light from the room, allowing your body to think it is dark and nighttime.
