We’ve Made The Switch To Roller Blinds. Have You?
The world of window coverings hasn’t changed much since the invention of blinds by the ancient Egyptians or the modification to the slatted blinds we know today, which were invented more than three centuries ago. Today, we contemplate the differences and similarities between traditional and contemporary blinds, that is, the horizontally slatted blinds and roller blinds, respectively.
Traditional, Horizontal Blinds
These blinds are also sometimes called Venetian blinds. They offer a classic look for window decor and are good light filters. Horizontal blinds are almost always made out of plastic, but there are some styles that replicate wood or are made from natural wood. There are many different variations of this style of blind, which means they can range in cost, look, and durability. This style is difficult to clean because each slat must be cleaned individually. However, they allow users to slant the blind at a certain angle to let in the desired amount of light.
Contemporary, Roller Blinds
The roller blind is a contemporary look and has only been around for a few decades. The roller blind is one piece of fabric that is rolled onto a tube when not in use. The roller blind can be made from sunlight or blockout fabric, both of which are easily cleaned. Roller blinds come in a variety of colours. The beauty of using roller blinds in a home or office space is they can be custom measured and sized to fit the window perfectly.
